Hojicha Cortado Japanese Roasted Tea (Printer-friendly)

Smooth roasted Japanese tea blended with creamy steamed milk for a balanced, silky beverage.

# What You'll Need:

→ Tea Base

01 - 2 teaspoons hojicha loose leaf tea or 1 hojicha tea bag
02 - ½ cup water, heated to 195°F

→ Milk

03 - ½ cup whole milk or plant-based milk

# How To Make It:

01 - Bring water to just below boiling at approximately 195°F.
02 - Place hojicha tea leaves or tea bag in a teapot or infuser. Pour the hot water over the tea and allow it to steep for 2 to 3 minutes. Strain the leaves or remove the tea bag.
03 - Steam the milk until hot and frothy using a milk steamer. Alternatively, heat the milk gently in a saucepan on the stovetop and whisk vigorously until frothy.
04 - Pour the brewed hojicha tea into a heatproof cup, filling approximately halfway.
05 - Pour the steamed milk into the cup in equal proportion, holding back the foam with a spoon. Spoon the milk froth on top of the beverage if desired.
06 - Serve the hojicha cortado immediately while hot.
